20-Minute Brown Sugar Salmon
If you need a quick, impressive dinner that comes together in a flash, this sweet and savory glazed salmon is an absolute winner. The glaze caramelizes under high heat, creating deliciously crisp edges while keeping the inside rich, tender, and flaky.
Prep time: 5 minutes | Cook time: 10–12 minutes | Servings: 2–3
Ingredients
For the Salmon
4 salmon fillets (skin-on or skinless, about 6 oz each)
1 tbsp olive oil (or avocado oil)
Salt and fresh cracked black pepper, to taste
For the Brown Sugar Glaze
3 tbsp brown sugar (packed)
2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
1 tbsp honey
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
For Garnish
2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
Cracked black pepper
Instructions
Prep the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
Whisk the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and lemon juice until the sugar mostly dissolves.
Sear the Fish: Heat the oil in a large skillet (preferably cast-iron or non-stick) over medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets in the pan. Cook undisturbed for 3 to 4 minutes until a golden-brown crust forms on the bottom.
Add the Glaze: Flip the fillets carefully. Pour the glaze mixture directly into the pan around and over the salmon.
Caramelize: Let the liquid bubble and reduce for another 3 to 4 minutes. Spoon the warm, thickening glaze over the tops of the fillets repeatedly until the salmon is cooked through and the sauce turns into a glossy coating with caramelized edges.
Garnish & Serve: Remove from heat immediately. Transfer to serving plates, spoon extra glaze from the pan over top, and garnish generously with chopped fresh parsley and an extra pinch of black pepper. Serve warm!
