Prep & Cooking Details

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes

  • Cook Time: 10 minutes

  • Total Time: 20 minutes

  • Servings: 4

Ingredients

For the Salmon:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each, skin on or off)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Orange Teriyaki Glaze:

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce (or low-sodium soy sauce)

  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice (about 1 medium orange)

  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water (optional, for a thicker glaze)

Garnish:

  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

  • 2 green onions (scallions), thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Prep the Sauce:

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, orange juice, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. If you like a thicker glaze, stir in the cornstarch slurry now. Set aside.

  2. Season the Salmon:

Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure a nice sear. Season both sides lightly with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

  3. Sear the Salmon:

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets in the pan (skin-side up first, if using skin-on). Cook undisturbed for about 3 to 4 minutes until a golden-brown crust forms. Flip carefully using a spatula and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.

  4. Add the Glaze:

Lower the heat to medium. Pour the orange teriyaki sauce directly into the skillet around the salmon. Let the glaze bubble and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, spooning the warm sauce over the top of the fillets as it thickens into a shiny, rich glaze.

  5. Garnish & Serve:

Remove the pan from the heat once the salmon is cooked to your liking (flaky on the outside, tender in the middle). Sprinkle generously with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Serving Suggestion: Enjoy immediately over steamed jasmine rice, brown rice, or alongside roasted broccoli and snap peas.
